Answer to the question about knowledge is equal to power, I'd like to say it's not always truth. I want to show the novel 1984, to describe why I thinking like that. In this novel, preexistence world was collapsed because of the nuclear war and three super-giant nations, Oceania, Eurasia and East-Asia are dominating the world. Everyone even party members aren't happy or rich. They don't know everything about real world before the nuclear war and only know the world the government fixed to delete memories about preexistence world. Winston works for ministry of truth, which fixes or deletes the information which gives bad effects for party and nation. Although his position in office isn't very high, he knows many informations about preexistence world, which Oceania fixed and deleted. He tried to change this unjustifiable society and find person felt him love whose name is Julia. But he fell into a trap of his boss and tortured by his boss. Finally he betrayed Julia and become a perso who just conform to party and its ideology. What I want to say is important thing is not only the knowledge. When anyone wants to get the power, he or she must have the ability to change knowledge into power. Party of Oceania has the ability to change the knowledge into power. They easily change the truth, and then continuous expose that faked truth to people. People can only see that faked truth. Finally all citizens of nation believe faked truth and stopped thinking critically. That's the aspect of people which party and nation want. They easily adjust the people with power from knowledge. Whether Winston knows many knowledge or not isn't important. Of course you can get power only you have many knowledge. But the power which generated by only knowing some knowledge bows to power which generated by using the knowledge. Winston knows the knowledge but he can't use that knowledge and bowed to party and nation which used the knowledge. That's all I have to say.
